Mini Cooper S 5-Door Hatch

Hình ảnh
It seems the interior of your car is as much a statement these days as the exterior. Vegan trims and touchscreens visible from space are the modern touch, but this special-edition   Mini 5-Door Hatch   Resolute takes a different tack and adds retro-styled cloth seats - the second new car in a week I’ve been in with 1960s-style fabric. But unlike the limited-edition, and hugely expensive, Porsche 911 Sport Classic, this Mini is not a museum-destined rarity. It’s part of Mini’s new range of specials, the other being a Countryman Untamed. (A Clubman Untold was also announced, but due to supplier issues, it’s not currently on sale.) In fact, talking of shortages, this test car is a manual (and a lovely one at that) and you can’t currently buy one of these, either. Only the dual-clutch and auto are available. Mini tells us the manual will return when the crisis eases. So, for £25,601 (just under £1000 more than the ...

2022 Four Wheeler of the Year

For the last six years,  the Toyota Highlander has been the best-selling midsize SUV , which is no easy feat in such a competitive market. But to keep things interesting for the 2023 Highlander's refresh, Toyota is actually scaling back the non-hybrid model's horsepower with a new engine that instead brings a big boost in torque over the outgoing V-6. The new Highlander ditches Toyota's old 3.5-liter V-6, which offered 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, for a new turbocharged 2.4 liter I-4 motor making 265 hp and 309 lb-ft.  While Toyota is quick to highlight the 17-percent increase in torque, we wonder how buyers will respond to such a drastic cut in horsepower (and cylinder count) on paper. There are other advantages, though. The new engine is just as efficient as the outgoing V6 at 24 mpg combined, while reducing NOx, NMOG, and CO2 emissions. The new non-hybrid Highlander can now tow up to 5,000 pounds, and features Toyota's Trailer Sway Control system. Front-...

The long-awaited production version of the   Volkswagen ID Buzz   has landed, five years after the retro-futuristic EV reworking of the original Microbus was shown  in concept form   at the 2017 Detroit motor show. Produced in the same commercial vehicle factory as the existing  Volkswagen Multivan  in Hanover, Germany, the latest addition to the all-electric  Volkswagen  ID line-up will go on sale in the UK in May in passenger and commercial vehicle guises - the latter known as the ID Buzz Cargo. Deliveries are tentatively planned to begin in October.  Each variant of the new Volkswagen is available initially in single-motor, rear-wheel-drive guise. Power comes from the same rear-mounted synchronous electric motor as that used by other recently introduced ID models, with 201bhp and 228lb ft of torque. Pricing for the ID Buzz has yet to be officially announced, but the line-up will start at around £40,000 for the van and in...
